Centria’s Principal Teacher Janne Peltoniemi composing and playing with world-class artists

International CD album “CWF II” was released on May 15 in Europe & USA and on May 20 in Japan, by Black Lodge Records/Sound Pollution and Sony Music Japan. The album has been produced by Swedish producer-guitarist Peter Friestedt and artist-producers Bill Champlin (Chicago) and Joseph Williams (Toto) who are top class musicians globally with a long experience in music field in various bands and combinations. Also, Joseph Williams’ father, John Williams, is one of the greatest film composers for movie scores like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Schindler’s list. In the released album, there are many world-class artists such as Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Toto, Kenny Loggins, David Foster), the world’s most recorded drummer John JR Robinson (Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, David Foster), singer Tamara Champlin (Elton John, Leon Russell, Steve Lukather, Bill Champlin) ja keyboardist-producer Bill Cantos (Patti Austin, Brenda Russell, Freddie Hubbard). The genre is close to Toto and Chicago, as well as larger field of West Coast/AOR.

Janne Peltoniemi, Principal Teacher in business department at Centria University of Applied Sciences, has made collaborative works with producer-guitarist Peter Friestedt for about 10 years with good success. Peltoniemi has been involved with four co-written songs in seven albums with Friestedt’s supergroup, and also with piano & keyboard tracks in the released records. The background platform for Peltoniemi’s work is JRP Records, which was established in 2003 by himself and Raine Lonnakko. This unit produces own tracks as well as joint tracks with the networks in Finland and internationally. JRP Records has been publishing instrumental tracks with featuring musicians Ricky Peterson (Sting, Kirk Whalum), Greg Vail (Al Jarreau, Earth, Wind & Fire) ja Dave Boruff (David Foster, Celiné Dion). In the new CWF II album, the song Amanda’s Disguise is the product of the latest joint work; composed by Peter Friestedt, Randy Goodrum and Janne Peltoniemi (with piano & keyboards), and performed by singers Bill Champlin, Joseph Williams and Frank Ådahl. John JR Robinson in drums and Johan Granström in bass. In Finnish scale, this is a massive outcome.

− I am with great company and truly grateful for this role and the path that has been given to me through the close relationship with Peter Friestedt. It has been an interesting road, and I have always liked the West Coast style, Janne Peltoniemi comments. - I was counting at least 12 Grammy Awards as an accumulation of the CWF II artists’ rewards from their careers up to date. Singer Michael McDonald alone has 5 Grammy Awards. Maybe someday a ‘collab’ Grammy is possible in the future, as a result of joint composing and recording processes in this group. I am very blessed!

The Japan release has already received an excellent welcoming from the Japanese listeners and fans. Right on the spot around the release, the CWF II has been the most selling Pop-chart record in Amazon Japan and ranked in #17 for overall score in Japan Oricon, comparable to Billboard in USA. The success and sales seem to produce really well in Japan!

The other artists and musicians on the CWF II record: Amy McDonald (voc.), Randy Goodrum (piano), George Hawkins (bs), Lars Säfsund (voc.), Stefan Gunnarsson (kb), Per Lindvall (dr), Johan Franzon (dr), Allan Hertz (dr), Erik-André Rydningen (dr), Ove Andersson (bs), Tomi Malm (kb & bs), Sebastian Robertsson (piano & kb), Robert Säll (gtr & kb), Jonas Wall (sax), Andreas Andersson (sax), Jonas Lindeborg (tr), Staffan Findin (trbn)
