Pre-reading materials for online entrance exam for January 2021 application round applicants + further admission instructions

In January 2021, student selection is based on scores from:

  • academic IELTS with score 6.0 or higher OR motivation video,
  • AND an online entrance exam.

Academic IELTS certificate

If applicant has a valid academic IELTS test result equal of greater than 6.0, he/she needs to attach a copy of the IELTS result to the application at Studyinfo.fi by the deadline (25.1.2021), and take part to the online entrance examination.

Please notice, that IELTS Test report forms are valid for 2 years, and Centria will not accept them if they expired.

IELTS/motivation videos will be checked only from those applicants who pass the online entrance examination.

Motivation video

If applicant does not have a valid academic IELTS test result equal of greater than 6.0, he/she needs to create a motivation video, upload it, and attach a link to the video to the application at Studyinfo.fi by the deadline (25.1.2021), and take part to the online entrance examination.

Please notice that you should only make ONE video, even if you have applied to more than one degree programmes.

When making the video, applicant should first introduce himself/herself and then discuss the following questions:

  • What are your strengths? For example, personal traits or specific skills that would have an influence on your studying?
  • What qualities will you bring to your learning group?
  • What are your weaknesses? How do you plan to improve your weaknesses, yourself and your skills in future especially by studying at Centria?
  • What are your future career plans?
  • What kind of competencies do you want to develop?
  • Why are you interested in receiving a Bachelor’s degree from Centria UAS?

Through the video, the English language skills are assessed, so it is important to focus on using clear and correct language. The video should show applicant´s face, no other visual materials are needed. The video can be made for example with a phone or tablet - the technical quality of it is not the most important aspect.

The length of the video should be approximately 3-5 minutes. Upload your content to a video or document sharing platform (for example YouTube, WordPress). Make sure that there are no access restrictions to your video! The best way is to keep your video public, but unlisted - that way it can be shared among Centria´s staff. Keep your video available until the results of the student selection are published. More information concerning YouTube video settings can be found here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/157177?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en.

Videos/IELTS will be checked only from those applicants who pass the online entrance examination.
