Applying for Master's with education completed outside EU/EEA-area

The last application period for Master´s degree programme, International Business Management, FULL-TIME studies conducted in English for applicants applying with a higher-degree qualification completed outside the EU/EEA area was arranged between 18 November, 2019 – 28 February, 2020. Link to the programme description and important details can be found here. At this moment, we have no confirmed information about the next application period for this programme, so please follow our webpages as well as social media where the news will be published once confirmed.

The application process takes place at when the application period starts. Application process is free of charge for all applicants. Applicants can be admitted if they meet eligibility requirements, submit a valid application, attach required documents and successfully pass the entrance exam. Entrance exam will be organized individually online.


Eligibility criteria 

For the last direct application round, the following education gave applicants eligibility to apply for Master´s programme:

  • a higher education degree completed outside EU/EEA area

Furthermore, applicants are always obliged to have at least two years of work experience, gained after obtaining the Bachelor´s degree.

Applicants are also required to be in a good command of English language since the Master´s studies are conducted in English.


Filling the application 

Applicants start the application process by filling an online application form during the application period at When filling the application form, applicants are advised to double check if given postal address is up to date and given email address is functional. Functional email address is particularly important in order to be able to contact applicants later on with decisions and further guidelines. Email address provided in the application form will be taken as official channel of communication and will not be changed later in the process. Once the application has successfully been registered, including an official copy of higher education degree certificate, applicants receive an application number. If an application number is received, applicants do not have to contact Centria´s Admissions office to confirm if the application has arrived.


Admission criteria 

Students are selected on the basis of points received from the entrance examination. The entrance exam is in form of an online test organized individually for each applicant. The instructions, detailed content and the schedule of the online entrance exam are going to be sent to eligible applicants via email.

The content of the entrance examination is based on given reading material and connected assignments. Applicants’ English language skills are going to be tested as well. A functional computer with stable internet connection are required.

Students will be invited via e-mail to take part in the entrance exam after submitting filled application with valid attachements and after being approved as eligible for this particular programme by the Admissions office.


Language tests 

Language tests are not required during the application process.


Admission results

Admission results will be announced by (date to be published) the latest. All accepted applicants will be informed about their admission by e-mail. It is essential to apply with a valid email address so the results are able to reach the applicants. After being admitted, in order to be able to start their studies, applicants still have to accept the study place by logging into and accepting the offered study place. If applicants have problems using the Internet and accessing the, a pdf form can be provided by the Admissions office. By accepting the study place, applicants also register themselves as present for the first academic year. If applicants wish to register as absent, they have to check the Enrolment section of Centria´s website to see if they are eligible to apply for such status and consult it further with the Admissions office.


Tuition fee payment

After accepting the study place, applicants receive an email with tuition fee payment instructions. For the next academic year 2020/2021, Centria has set the tuition fees for the Master´s degree programme to be 7500€ per academic year. If completing the degree within one and half years, graduates are eligible to apply for a scholarship in form of 50% refund of the second year payment.

Residence permit

Once a tuition fee is paid, we advise students to immediately start the residence permit process. It is possible to do so at the nearest Finnish consulate or embassy after getting the notice of acceptance letter. The precondition for obtaining a residence permit is a letter of acceptance from the university, a tuition fee payment confirmation, a valid health insurance coverage with a reliable and solvent company or institution, as well as a prove of sufficient funds in order to be able to self-support a student life in Finland.
