APPLYING WITH EDUCATION COMPLETED IN FINLAND

The next application period for degree programmes conducted in English for applicants applying with a qualification completed in Finland will be arranged between 18 March to 1 April, 2020. Offered programmes and more information about them can be found here. The application period ends on 1 April, 2020 at 3 pm. Finnish time (UTC +2).

Centria UAS´degree programmes are not part of the Joint application of Higher Education, Spring 2020. For this reason, it is only possible to apply via the Centria / Erillishaku / spring 2020. The application process will take place at Studyinfo.fi when the application period starts. Application process is free of charge for all applicants. Applicants can be admitted if they meet eligibility requirements, submit a valid application, attach required documents and successfully pass the entrance exam.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

For this specific direct application round, the following education give applicants eligibility to apply for Bachelor´s programmes:

  • Finnish general upper secondary school syllabus and/or the matriculation examination;
  • an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma;
  • a European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma;
  • Reifeprüfung (RP) Diploma;
  • Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification with a scope of 120 credit units or 180 credit points, or a comparable previous Finnish vocational qualification with a minimum scope of 80 credit units;
  • Finnish post-secondary or higher vocational level diploma; 
  • a  Finnish vocational upper secondary  qualification  or  a  further or specialist vocational qualification as a competence-based qualification, or a comparable previous qualification
  • discretionary admissions

 

If an applicant is applying through discretionary admission, he or she is required to submit copies of certificates that he or she wishes to use, to the Admissions office of Centria UAS by xxx (date to be published) at 3 pm Finnish time (UTC +2). Discretion only concerns an applicant’s eligibility to apply.

 

FILLING THE APPLICATION

Applicants start the application process by filling an online application form during the application period at Studyinfo.fi. There is no need for using education agents since the application is publicly available to everyone via Internet as well as the admission process follows predefined admissions criteria which an agent cannot influence.When filling the application form, applicants are advised to double check if given postal address is up to date and given email address is functional. Functional email address is particularly important in order to be able to contact applicants later on with decisions and further guidelines. Email address provided in the application form will be taken as official channel of communication and will not be changed later in the process. Once the application has successfully been registered, including an official copy of secondary education certificate, applicants receive an application number. If an application number is received, applicants do not have to contact Centria´s Admissions office to confirm if the application has arrived.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

There are no traditional entrance exams for any of Centria´s programmes. Instead, for the Nursing programme, applicants submit a motivation video and a motivation letter, based on which if further needed, they will be invited for a Skype interview with one of Centria´s teachers. For all the other programmes, applicants submit a motivation video and a motivation letter.

 

Information concerning the motivation video and the motivation letter is delivered to applicants via two streams. Firstly, the guidelines are already included in the very end of the application form and secondly, they are sent via email once the application is submitted. Shortly, applicants create a video which they upload to a video-sharing website of their choice and share the link with Centria via an online platform which will be announced to applicants further on via email. Concerning the motivation letter, applicants write a letter of motivation and submit it to the selected online platform as well.

   

ADMISSION RESULTS

Admission results will be announced by 8 July, 2020 the latest. All accepted applicants will be informed about their admission by e-mail. It is essential to apply with a valid email address so the results are able to reach the applicants. After being admitted, in order to be able to start their studies, applicants still have to accept the study place by logging into Studyinfo.fi and accepting the offered study place. If applicants have problems using the Internet and accessing the Studyinfo.fi, a pdf form can be provided by the Admissions office. By accepting the study place, applicants also register themselves as present for the first academic year. If applicants wish to register as absent, they have to check the Enrolment section of Centria´s website to see if they are eligible to apply for such status and consult it further with the Admissions office.
